The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control - 881 Words
It is human nature for people to fight for what they believe in, and for some the debate about firearm ownership is a battle worth fighting. Lately In the United States of America, some controversy has arisen over the idea of gun control and laws enforcing tighter rules on weaponry. There are two split sides. The ones who support the idea of gun control and those who oppose the gun restriction laws. People who support gun control laws believe that the laws will help prevent gun violence, whereas those who are against the laws want to protect themselves and their belongings. Numerous citizens have ideals that firearms should have stricter restrictions for safety reasons. A main issue currently going on being the ever increasing activeâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦People want to ban concealed-carry permits to lower the firearm death-toll. Many women would be affected by this, as put by Kopel, ââ¬Å"about a quarter of those who apply for and receive carry permits are women. Likewise, many people believe that gun control wont prevent gun violence or gun-related deaths. There are already an estimated 280 million to 300 million firearms in the hands of Americans, many of which are not legally owned (Goldberg). Using gun control laws to prevent those illegal weapons from falling into the hands of the dangerous would be nearly impossible. Despite the risk of violence, they will still fight for what they believe in. Everyone has their own unique perspective on gun control whether it be to end gun violence, or to protect themselves and their belongings. America has tried to resolve the issue before by passing acts and laws in the past.
